SPARK is a growing, young, dynamic development NGO with 80 staff members in offices in Amsterdam, Belgrade, Bujumbura, Juba, Kigali, Monrovia, Mitrovica, Pristina and Ramallah. SPARK develops higher education and entrepreneurship, so that young ambitious people are empowered to lead their post-conflict society into prosperity.
SPARK is achieving its mission by organizing business plan competitions, business skills training, SME coaching & mentoring, business incubation, SME financing, intensive higher vocational summer courses, curriculum development and quality assurance at universities and higher vocational education institutions.
SPARK is currently looking for: 6 visiting professors
Mitrovica Sumer University 2013 (MSU13) is a two-week academic programme that brings together regional and international professors and students with aim to introduce students in Mitrovica to recent developments in the field of European Integration and higher education and to support integration of students and professors in regional and international academic networks. The MSU13, comprising six intensive courses followed with cultural excursions, a recreational programme, as well as public debates on prominent issues in society, will be held from the 19th of July until the 2nd of August, 2013. The MSU13 courses are conceived to be taught by six teams each consisted of a visiting professor, a local professor and an assistant.
Enthusiastic visiting professors who would like to lecture during the MSU13 can apply to teach and submit a course proposal for one of the following topics:
1. European Human Rights Advocacy;
2. Information Literacy Tools in Formal and Informal Education;
3. Entrepreneurship – from basics to innovation;
4. Cultural Heritage and Diversity;
5. Environmental protection and hazardous materials;
6. Cultural and national contacts in Modern British-American Literature.
Deadline for application is the 15th of May, 2013. The MSU team may decide to extend the deadline. If so, information will be posted on www.my-program.org.
Main tasks and Responsibilities:

To submit a course proposal matching one of the course suggestions listed above;

To be present during whole duration of the MSU13 (from the 19th of July until the 2nd of August, 2013.);

To develop final course curriculum in cooperation with local professor;
-
To attend the Preparatory Weekend for professors (the 20th and the 21st of July, 2013.);

To take leading role in conducting lectures together with local professor;
-
To plan and conduct assessment of students’ knowledge;
-
To take a part in public lectures and debates if required;
-
To submit a report no later than two weeks after the end of the MSU13.
Requirements and Skills:

PhD in one of the academic fields, relevant to the selected topics;

Current (or recent) experience of teaching in a university;
-
At least three years of teaching experience in one of the relevant academic fields;

References from (current) Head of Department;

Good team worker (in cooperation with co-professor) while able to work independently;

A flexible spirit is a must for coping with the dynamic and challenging environment;

English fluency in both, oral and written.
